Semester : Semester 1 2011/12 Synopsis : This course presents fundamental principle of safety and risk assessment in the chemical process industry. In particular, it emphasizes on safety legislations, inherent safety design concept, industrial hygiene, methods of hazard identification and risk assessments with a special focus on the chemical health risk assessment (CHRA). At the end of this course, it is expected that the students will be able to apply the techniques of hazard identification and inherent safety concept in the design and operation of chemical plant and relate the theoretical and practical aspect of occupational safety and health in chemical process industry.
