The course is designed to give the student a basic understanding of Geographic Information System. All related philosophies, theories and methodologies of GIS will be explained. Terminology, history of GIS, basic concepts, components of GIS, spatial database, application and recent issues will be covered. Besides that, current issues and future development of GIS will also be covered in this course.

As an object of valuation, the nature of real estate determines the value of a bundle of interests therein. Beside the valuation process, valuers need to understand what is value, purposes of valuation, the valuation profession, object of valuation, valuation report and factors affecting property values. Verily, students need to understand the way in which property characteristics affect its values through the 5 methodologies. The course will demonstrate the basic elements of the 5 valuation methods, its applicability, issues and shortcomings and related property reports.
This course will introduce students to basic knowledge on theory and practice of project management. Topic include basic project management, Project life cycle, Project selection and evaluation, Organizational concepts in project management, Project planning, conflict and negotiation, Budgeting and cost estimation, Scheduling, Resource allocation, Monitoring, Information systems and Project control and Project termination. The objective is to get insight into human behavior, understand organizational issues and learn quantitative methods that are necessary for successful project management. Significant amount of interaction is expected during lectures, case discussions and student project presentations.
This module presents an overview of space-based microwave remote sensing for environmental applications with a focus on meteorological applications. It delivers basic information on polar-orbiting satellite characteristics, current microwave instruments, and the products they provide. Special attention is
given to the newer capabilities for the Suomi NPP (National Polar-orbiting Partnership) and future JPSS (Joint Polar Satellite System) satellites. Additional information is included for those missions being operated by the U.S.' international partners. This module also serves as an introduction to other, more in-depth modules covering the science and application of cloud, precipitation, water vapor, and land and sea surface observations.

The aim of study is to provide basic knowledge in Internet programming and to highlight the importance of the subject for web based GIS development. Students will be exposed to basic knowledge in programming such as HTML, PHP, XML, XSLT and KML languages. During the course, attention will be given to the students in understanding and their ability in developing web applications.
This course discusses the requirements for advanced database applications and examines the concepts of various emerging database technologies such as distributed and interoperability databases, data warehousing, data mining, data quality, service-oriented architecture, workflows, RDBMS vs. ORDBMS vs. OODBMS, GIS geo-DBMS application integration and optimization.
